Life Is Fatal

Surgeon General's Warning

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about life. What are we supposed to do in this life? What is our purpose? Is it okay to just cruise through life and have a nice family and nice stuff and then pass on out of this life?

I’ve had these thoughts spurred on by several different sources. Francis Chan has a great youtube video that talks about this life in comparison to eternity. Seth Godin has released a new book “Poke the Box” that talks about taking action and stirring things up. And believe it or not, I was introducing the A-Team to my boys and one of the early episodes was discussing death and that we’re all gonna die sometime, so we shouldn’t be afraid of it.

I often hear people talking about this product will kill you or that product will kill you. I’ve come up with a saying that addresses that. “The surgeon general has determined that life is the leading cause of death in the U.S.” I’ve also heard the phrase that “life is a disease with a 100% mortality rate”.

We’re all going to die someday. We have no idea when. I guarantee though that it will not be before the time God has appointed. Stop worrying about what might happen and start making things happen. Fill this life up. To quote the great hair band Cinderalla, “You’re only going once around the ride”.

So should we live as if there’s no tomorrow and spend all of our money and forget about the future? Well, no, but we also shouldn’t sit around worrying about the future and trying to save every penny for some day that may never come. There’s so much more to life than that.  Make a reasonable plan, and then go live life while you can for tomorrow we may die.
