This Year Is Going To Suck!

I’ve seen so many posts on Facebook to the effect of “I hope this year is better than last year”. Well, I’ve got news for you. This year is probably going to suck. That is, unless you have a plan to make it better than last year. You shouldn’t be depending on luck, or fate to determine how your year is going to go.

If you just let life happen TO you, then you’ll never be happy with what you get. On the other hand, if you have goals and a plan, then regardless of what happens along the way, you will still find satisfaction because you are happening TO life instead of it happening to you.

Life is an adventure to be lived. Treat it that way, and you will be so much more satisfied with what you get. Sure there are bumps along the way, but those are challenges to be overcome, not insurmountable obstacles knocking you for a loop.

I just finished reading “A Million Miles In a Thousand Years” by Donald Miller. This is a GREAT book about creating stories in your life. I highly recommend it. It is very much about happening TO life instead of letting it happening to you. There are so many opportunities out there to live life and make a difference. The author talks about his transformation from a mediocre life to a life lived and how one should go about it.

I’ve been making some of these transformations in my own life without really consciously knowing it, but I can see it now and can testify that it really does make a difference. So many people are chasing after money and possessions and power, but do these things really add meaning to life? Isn’t it found more in what we experience?

We are embarking on a new adventure that I KNOW will make 2012 better than 2011. I can tell you that beyond the shadow of a doubt because we are MAKING it that way. We are in the process of adding 3 new children to our family. Talk about adventure! We’re one month in to our enlarged family, and IT IS AWESOME! Sure there’s going to be rough spots. Maybe even some REALLY rough spots, but hey, that’s life!

If you want 2012 to be better than 2011, but you don’t have a plan, then I encourage you to read “A Million Miles In a Thousand Years” and “See You At the Top” by Zig Ziglar. Both are great books to help set you on your path. I would also be more than happy to talk to you about it and help encourage you along the path. I guarantee you that you can make 2012 better than 2011, but it’s not going to happen unless you make it. Please don’t let another year slip by without making a change. If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you will keep getting what you’ve always gotten.
