I’m listening to Lifehouse’s newest album Smoke & Mirrors right now. The title of one of the songs is “All In”. The key line is “I’m all in for life”.
Are you all in for life? I can make so many parallels to this.
In your marriage, are you all in for life? Are you committed with everything you have to making it work? Are you leaving anything on the table? Is this just a trial period to see how things work out?
How about your life in general? Are you all in? Are you happening to life or is it happening to you?
My father-in-law had a saying on his wall that I always loved. I’ve since discovered that it’s from George Bernard Shaw. It says:
This is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.
Which are you? Are you a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances? Do you know anyone like that?
Also notice that it says “being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one”. It doesn’t say “recognized by the world as a mighty one”. Don’t let the world throw you off course. You were created for a purpose and no one but you and God know that purpose. Also know that no one else can carry out that specific purpose the way you were planned to.
Make sure you’re all in. The only thing you leave behind is your legacy. Make sure it’s a good one.
